Lifeguards

This course teaches professionalism and emergency preparation. Completing the course requirements earns you the following certifications: Lifeguarding/First Aid (good for 2 years), CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certificate (good for 1 year). Course length: approx. 30 hours.

The first day includes pre-requisites test on ability to swim 300 yards continuously; and, starting in the water, ability to swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 10 feet, retrieve a 10-lb object, return to surface, swim 20 yards back to starting point with the object, and exit water without using a ladder or steps (timed under 1 minute, 40 seconds). Skills test competency and written exam (80%) required for certification.
